Metric Prefixes From Kilo to Milli

I heard you wanted to understand the order of metric prefixes. I use to have a lot of trouble remembering these, until I started looking for patterns. So let’s start here. The values of each prefix and the pattern they make when written down. After you get better at this, we’ll play a game to learn how each prefix relates to a meter.

For now notice how deci sounds like decimal, centi sounds like cent or centipede, and milli sounds like millipede. The three smallest prefixes all also end with the letter i. Are there any other patterns you can see? Think about it and let me know what you come up with. We’ll dig deeper tomorrow, and check with Professor H because she always has questions that make you think.
